Chris
Berka, Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder: Prior to joining the Company, Ms. Berka built a business
at Psychemedics Corporation, which developed and introduced a patented
forensic test to liquefy hair in order to identify the usage of illegal
drugs. She recruited the team of scientific and medical advisors, designed
and implemented clinical trials, and presented the results at scientific
meetings and in publications. As the technology gained scientific acceptance,
she developed the marketing strategy, identifying four distinct target
markets. Chris then served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and
grew the company to over $17 million in annual revenues. She was responsible
for the design and implementation of advertising, marketing communications
materials, trade show exhibits, seminar series and direct mail campaigns.
She produced corporate videos and developed the training program for the
company's sales and customer service departments. She made over 300 presentations
to scientific and trade organizations, Fortune 500 firms and Government
agencies and has co-authored over 20 papers. Chris also has 10 years experience
as a Research Scientist and Laboratory Supervisor and has published scientific
papers on the analysis of physiological signals, including EEG recordings
in epileptic patients and hyperactive children. She received her B.A.
with distinction in Psychology/Biology at Ohio State University. In her
postgraduate work, she was a Regents fellow and National Institute of
Mental Health fellow at the UCSD and a Clinical Research fellow at UCLA.
Daniel J. Levendowski, President & Co-Founder: Mr. Levendowski
has served as the Principal Investigator on four Phase-I and six Phase
II National Institute of Health Small Business Innovative Research Grants
totaling $6.5 million. As part of the research effort, Mr. Levendowski
oversaw the acquisition of the Company's proprietary clinical study database,
and managed the software and hardware development teams. Mr. Levendowski
is responsible for developing many of the algorithms used to automate
the analysis of physiological signals. He is co-inventor in six patents
as by the USPTO a result of his work. Mr. Levendowski is currently serving
as the Principal Investigator on two Phase II grants. One grant will result
in a commercial product called the Alertness and Memory Profiler (AMP),
a clinical tool used to objectively quantify daytime drowsiness and memory.
The second grant is to make improvements to the Apnea Risk Evaluation
System, an FDA cleared in-home procedure for diagnosing obstructive sleep
apnea. His involvement as a researcher in several DARPA grants will result
in advancements to the B-Alert Wireless EEG System in anticipation of
commercial launch in 2005. Prior to joining Advanced Brain Monitoring,
Mr. Levendowski served as a VP, MPR Health Systems and co-invented a patented
technology to detect back muscle dysfunction. He has also served as the
COO and CFO of Psychemedics, a publicly traded company. Mr. Levendowski
completed his B.S. degree in 1985 from University of Pacific (Cum Laude)
and received his M.B.A. from the Anderson School, University of California,
Los Angeles in 1989.
Philip
R. Westbrook, M.D., Chief Medical Officer: Dr. Westbrook joined the Company as its Chief Medical Officer
in 2001, and serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is Clinical
Professor of Medicine at UCLA and has been actively involved in the professional
organizations associated with sleep disorders. He served as President
of the American Sleep Disorder Association (ASDA) and member of the Board
of Directors and Standards of Practice Committee and was acknowledged
by the ASDA with a Distinguished Service Award in 1992. Since 1991, Dr.
Westbrook has presented over 100 guest lectures to professional organizations,
was Editor-in-Chief of the Sleep Medicine Review, an editor for Sleep,
a guest reviewer for Chest and an Ad Hoc reviewer for The New England
Journal of Medicine. Dr. Westbrook has co-authored five book chapters
and five review papers relating to sleep medicine and over 15 journal
articles and 13 abstracts. Dr. Westbrook received his medical degree from
Stanford University in 1960. He was a clinical fellow and Associate Professor
of Medicine at Mayo Medical School in Rochester, MN and founding Director
of the Sleep Disorder Centers at the Mayo Clinic from 1980 through 1989
and at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA from 1989 through
1995. From 1995 to 2001 he was President of Pacific Sleep Medicine, a
network of sleep specialists in Southern California providing diagnosis
and treatment of sleep disorders. Dr. Westbrook received his M.D. and B.S. from Stanford University.
Delmer W. Henninger, M.D., Medical Director: Dr. Henninger joined the company as Medical Director in 2004, and is responsible for medical interpretation and quality control of the ARES Sleep Study Reports. Dr. Henninger brings over 15 years of experience in respiratory care and sleep medicine to the company, and he is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Disorders Medicine. In addition to his role at Advanced Brain Monitoring, Dr. Henninger has served as medical director of the Murrieta Sleep Medical Clinic since 1994, Medical Director of Utilization Review/Medical Records at Southwest HealthCare System since 2001, and as Director of the Respiratory Care Departments in both the SouthWest HealthCare System (Rancho Springs & Inland Valley Hospitals) and the Valley HealthCare System (Hemet & Menifee Hospitals) between 1989 and 2000. Dr. Henninger earned his B.A. cum laude at UC San Diego, M.D. from St. Georges University School of Medicine, and served as Pulmonary/Critical Fellow at University of Missouri Health Science Center.
Donald
L. Carper, J.D., Vice President of Compliance & Corporate Secretary:
Mr. Carper joined the Company as its Vice President, Compliance and Corporate
Secretary in July 2004 and is a Director and Secretary. Mr. Carper has
been a professor at the California State University, Sacramento College
of Business since 1986. At CSUS he served as Chair of the Department of
Organization Behavior and Environment. He has been a neutral arbitrator
and mediator serving on the American Arbitration Association Commercial
Panel. He is an Associate with the California Center for Collaborative
Policy and served on the Northern California Advisory Committee for the
American Arbitration Association for several years. Between 1984 and 1986
Mr. Carper served as managing attorney for a Law Corporation practicing
health and corporation law. Under grants from the U.S. Department of State
Mr. Carper coordinated the establishment of two mediation centers in the
Kaluga, Oblast in Russia. In addition he worked on ADR programs and training
of judges and lawyers in West Africa. He has created and participated
in training programs for lawyers and judges from Russia, Ghana, Nigeria,
Senegal, Korea and China. He has published several textbooks, and teaching
supplements for Thompson Learning and West's Educational Publishing emphasizing
business and personal law. He served as a professor at the School of Business
of the University of Pacific from 1979 through 1985 and Assistant Dean
at the McGeorge School of Law from 1971 through 1977. Mr. Carper earned
a J.D. from McGeorge School of Law and a Masters in Public Administration
from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Science
from California State University, Chico in Personnel and Industrial Relations.
He is licensed to practice law in the State of California.
